Why I Love Network Marketing

Just the title of this post probably turned quite a few of you away. But at the very least, just read this post and hear me out. After all, what have you got to lose by just reading a blog post? Worst case scenario, you learn nothing and change nothing. Best case scenario, you learn something and you decide to join the MLM revolution.

The old way of network marketing is long gone, a thing of the past. All of us, including myself, have tried or ran from the money traps that network marketing offered in the past. But we have all seen people actually make money off of these companies out there and wonder where we went wrong and how they made it work for them. We've seen the pink Cadillacs, shook hands with the speaker who just bragged about his income and vacation home. Money CAN be made in MLM companies.

BUT...there is a secret to it.

First, and this is very important, you have to get in early! If you buy in while the company is less than 5% saturated (especially less than 2% saturated) you are in the perfect place. There are MLM companies out there that have been around for generations and are so completely saturated that buying in now is a complete and total waste of money. If you're grandmother or mother had the opportunity to buy into a network marketing company, DO NOT BUY IN! You want to be positioned at the top, before the market becomes overly saturated.

Second, you have to believe in the product/service. How can you sell something you haven't tried and/or don't truly believe in? You can't. Also, be realistic. There are no miracle products out there. There are, however, products that work. Just be realistic in your claims. And lastly, if a company has a catalog of products and/or services it is going to be difficult to truly focus your energy. Choose a MLM company that focuses on 1 to 3 really good products that you can stand behind. This will help you when you are becoming an expert on the products you sell.

Next, know your compensation plan inside and out. Know exactly how you get paid and how you can earn more for all your hard work. Learn the minimum amount of money you need to put into your business and don't waste your money on all the extras unless you truly know they will help you run your business better. Does your company have a dream car program? Does it have a retirement plan? (Yes, there are a few network marketing companies out there that actually have pretty amazing retirement plans.) Does your company push you to constantly recruit, even nagging your friends and family almost to the point of being taken out of the will? Or is set up so that you can also serve as a leader and train your team to continuously duplicate and build together?

Also, understand that even though you are buying into a company you need to run your business as if you were the owner. It's YOUR business. Sometime you have to step outside of the culture for the betterment of your own business success. If someone is interested in your products or becoming a business partner and you connect them with your "leader" in your upline, didn't you just make your upline the expert and/or boss? Passing interested parties off to your "leader" will make your customers and leads think of you as an employee rather than an owner of your own business. Even if this is what you've been taught by those leaders above you, why wouldn't you edify yourself as a leader and expert in the industry and with your own business instead of someone else?

Now if you have read this far and are still of the mindset that network marketing is a scam, let me enlighten you for just a moment. I was given this analogy from a business partner of mine and it changed my outlook forever. I used to work for a huge fitness corporation. Everyday at the same time all the department managers and the sales team would meet to discuss all the members that had joined the day before and ten days before. We would discuss our game plans to connect them to each department and ensure they are fully submerged into our facility so that we could decrease the likelihood of membership cancellations. Our sales team would often offer discounts for friends and family of employees and we would have membership goals to help the sales team, and all of this would be tracked. We were encouraged to constantly pitch to our friends and family. We sat through leadership calls to train us how to retain memberships as well as maintain happy team members within our departments. And this was the same for each and every facility across the country. And sitting at the top of all of this was the CEO and founder of the company and all those that were making millions off our hard work. Isn't that basically multilevel marketing? The difference is that when you market and work for a corporation you don't control your earning potential and it will never be your business to run.

Finally, if you think buying into a company is a scam then consider this... Try to buy a fast food franchise. You're looking at several hundred thousand dollars in most cases. How about a food truck? Ten grand perhaps. A small boutique? Rent, deposit, start up costs. NO BUSINESS IS FREE! Paying a few hundred dollars into your own business is actually reasonable if you really think about it.

Network marketing isn't for everyone and you must do your research. But there is a fortune to be made when you pick the right one!
